AZIMUT SEADECK 7 WINS THE DESIGN INNOVATION AWARD
Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici honor Azimut with the 2024 Design Innovation Award: Seadeck 7 – the first full hybrid yacht under 24 meters that combines hybrid power and IPS propulsion from Volvo Penta – triumphs in the “motor yachts over 14 meters” category.
Azimut’s success at the Design Innovation Award continues, with the Shipyard being recognized for the second consecutive year for the exceptional innovation and design across its yachts.
This year, the prestigious award was given to the Seadeck 7 in the “motor yachts over 14 meters” category, recognized by the jury as “an electric hybrid yacht embracing sustainable solutions in a new collaborative vision”.
SEADECK 7
The Seadeck Series, the result of Azimut’s collaboration with Alberto Mancini who designed the exterior lines and Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez for the interiors, epitomises the solutions available today to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, allowing a careful owner to reduce emissions by up to 40% over a year of average use compared to boats of comparable weight and size with a shaft drive and a traditional hull. -30% is due to the yacht’s advanced naval architecture, integrating the extensive use of carbon to reduce the boat’s structural weight through high-efficiency hulls and propulsion systems. The remaining -10% results from the hybrid architecture and innovative electrification technology.
The new Seadeck 7 is a milestone on the green path charted by the Shipyard and the first yacht in the world to combine a hybrid power system with IPS propulsion by Volvo Penta. The revolutionary hybrid-electric package, the result of collaboration between Volvo Penta and Azimut|Benetti Group’s R&D department, enables the yacht to moor and cruise in full electric mode at up to 11 knots and then switch – as in a car – from the electric motor to the IC engine, without the use of an on-board generator.
The Hybrid Boost system delivers more powerful acceleration, while the energy recovery system recharges the batteries during navigation, with a fast-charging mode available using the IC engines. When at anchor, the on-board batteries can power all the services for up to 12 hours, offering an experience of close contact with the sea in total silence. The system also makes it possible to access zero-emission areas while respecting the natural environment.
New frontiers are opened by the Full Hybrid system installed on the Seadeck 7, making it possible for the first time to provide the benefits of electrification even on medium sized motor-yachts for family use.
